Rides are superbly maintained both inside and out. Ride foreman take pride in the appearance and safe nature of the rides for which they are responsible. Rides are inspected DAILY by the Ride Superintendent and operator. Additionally the Show manager and the Owner inspect them at least once per week. No ride operates without a thorough inspection prior to the beginning of each event day. A quality, thorough, unyielding daily inspection program eliminates more than 90% of any potential equipment malfunction which may cause a safety hazard. As a result Helm and Sons Amusements undergoes more inspection and critical evaluation than any other carnival.

Helm and Sons Amusements is proud of its impeccable safety record. This record is only achieved through diligence, solid policies and a foundation of the importance of Safety in all aspects of the operation. Safe practices begin at hiring with employees and are constantly reviewed, updated and refined. The ability to detect the slightest potential hazard is gained by experience, training and time. The eyes and ears of management, ownership and ride operators are constantly and consistently cast over a Helm and Sons Amusements midway.

The foundation for Helm and Sons Amusements Safety Program is three fold:

1. Helm and Sons Amusements maintains rides in outstanding condition both mechanically and in appearance.

2. Employees are trained daily in safety awareness and procedures.

3. Management and ownership have made safety more important than profit.

Helm and Sons Amusements maintains that after an accident a carnival owner would give anything to have another chance to eliminate the risk. With that in mind, all Helm and Sons Amusements employees are reminded daily that you never get a second chance. Prevention is the only option.
